GrillSymbol – Experience Since 1925

GrillSymbol traces its roots to 1925, when smith Johannes Moisar opened a smithy in Tallinn producing iron pans and stove parts. After the Soviet nationalisation in 1940, operations ceased until brothers Ivar and Laur Suurväli revived the family tradition in 1997 by founding Symbol OÜ and producing iron pans once again.

In 2006–2007, the product line expanded with BBQ Smokers, tested and used by professionals across Europe. GrillSymbol OÜ was established in 2008, developing the highly durable PRO series pans, followed by the more affordable Basic series in 2016.

The company returned to fire pit production in 2017, creating Nordic-inspired Cor-Ten steel models, later expanding into flowerpots and modular shelves in 2018. Product development remains central, with new designs added yearly.

Still a family business, production continues in Tallinn with the fifth generation now involved. In 2025, GrillSymbol will celebrate 100 years of tradition and craftsmanship.
